Noah Kahan announced on Jan. 20 that his new single, “The Great Divide,” would be out on Friday, Jan. 30. Alongside his new album, with the same title, is slated to come out on April 24.
The feedback for this album has been received super well following the high from Stick Season. Fans have been eager for new music from Kahan since the summer of 2024, when the last song he released was the live version of “Pain Is Cold Water” on Aug. 30 of that year.
The single itself was received so well that it has become Kahan’s highest charting song on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #6 and surpassing “Stick Season,” which previously peaked at #9.
While the music has received feedback, the tour situation has not. Many fans were upset about the unattainability of the tickets and how much the tickets ended up costing. While, inherently, tickets were reasonable compared to the recent Harry Styles fiasco. The tickets were still expensive, and the demand for tickets did not accommodate the venue’s size.
As most of these shows are at baseball stadiums, the capacities ranged anywhere from 35,000 to 50,000, but people were as far back as over 90,000 in the Ticketmaster queue. One fan on X is saying, “Me thinking I had a chance at Noah Kahan tickets after losing every single Harry Styles Ticketmaster war.”
It’s also not a lack of trying from Kahan’s end; he and his team did their best to make tickets attainable and affordable for fans. Some fans, me included, had to do a facial scan to prove they weren’t a bot when signing up for presale. Along with the face-value resale policy, this gave many fans hope that they would be able to get tickets.
While in reality, the demand for tickets and venue capacity didn’t match up. This unfortunately leaves many fans without tickets and disappointed.
I’m not too heartbroken over not getting tickets, as I saw Kahan in 2024 for $67. While I would’ve loved to have seen him again, at least I had that experience and got to hear “The Great Divide” way before it was released. But I’m excited for the full length album coming this spring and can’t wait to hear it.
