Meet the winners of Millersville's local elections

Lancaster County’s local elections on Nov. 4 saw six counties hold elections, with Millersville Borough Democrats winning all available council seats and the mayoral position with a “blue wave.” 

 

Millersville Borough Council

Millersville Borough Council saw Democrats make a clean sweep, winning all four available seats.

 

Michael Miklos

Miklos, a psychologist who has lived in Millersville for over 30 years, is a graduate of Millersville University. He has worked as a behavior analyst and school psychologist, and is currently in private practice. Miklos is also responsible for organizing one of the nation’s largest conferences dedicated to education services for students with autism as an educational consultant for the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network for over 15 years. 

Issues important to Miklos: 

  • Enhancing quality of life standards for all borough residents through controlled growth and planning
  • Fiscal responsibility and fair tax policy
  • Balancing the interests of residents, public services and businesses in the Borough to enhance livability and quality of life for all.

 

Gregg Barley

Barley is the owner of concert venue Phantom Power, which has been a reason for increased business in Millersville from out-of-town visitors when hosting shows. His wife, Rachael, is a Millersville University alumna. Barley is committed to contributing to the growth and prosperity of Millerville’s community. 

 

Lauren Hauck 

A 1998 Penn Manor graduate, Hauck served on the Millersville Planning Commission in 2017. In 2019, she was elected to the Borough Council and served as vice president and president. Although Hauck did not run for reelection, she will be returning to office in 2026. 

Issues important to Hauck:

  • Thoughtful development that benefits residents
  • Long-term planning to keep taxes in check
  • Fostering social connections within the community by increasing recreation opportunities and new small businesses

 

Ryan Hoffman

Hoffman has been a Millersville resident for the past 11 years and served in the Pennsylvania National Guard from 2001 to 2007. He currently works in the construction field. Hoffman hopes to “build a sustainable and prosperous future for Millersville.” 

Issues important to Hoffman: 

  • Maximizing the positives for the Borough and its residents from growth in and around Millersville.
  • Working with Millersville University to maximize resources and opportunities for the Borough and its residents.
  • Improving community enjoyment infrastructure – whether it is a local diner to have breakfast or dinner, a library, or utilizing our park for community events.

 

Millersville Borough Mayor

The Millersville mayoral race saw Democrat Phil Lastowski defeat Republican incumbent Dave Aichele, 1,003 to 734. 

 

Phil Lastowski 

Lastowski, 75, is a Millersville resident of 29 years. He worked for 12 years on the Borough Council and committed 18 years of service to Blue Rock Regional Fire District. His wife, Carol, and daughter, Laura, are both Millersville University graduates. Lastowski “believes in fairness, respect, and working together for a stronger Millersville.”

Issues important to Lastowski: 

  • Supporting Millersville Borough Police
  • Zero tolerance policies toward public drinking, urination, loud noise, and vandalism 
  • Open business decisions within the council, with all meetings open to the public for complete transparency with the community
