On Sept. 19, 2025, students were invited to attend the birthday celebration for the most well-known mascot on campus, Skully. The event was hosted on the Student Memorial Center Promenade from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with music, food, and games. This year held features of other local mascots to celebrate alongside Skully, as well as a cake decorating competition with groups of students.
Students got to watch as all of the mascots faced off in different challenges, such as limbo and musical chairs. In birthday fashion, Skully won these games against the other mascots. Those who made guest appearances consisted of Cylo from the Lancaster Barnstormers, Rammy the Golden Ram from West Chester University, Bolt from Lancaster Bible College, Blue the Blue Jay from Elizabethtown College, the Chick-fil-a cow, Johnny the Long John from Achenbach’s Pastries, and Kermit the Frog.
CHEP worked to provide mocktails for the event, with each having a designated theme catered towards the birthday. The featured drinks included Captain Skully’s Blue Wave Splash, Skully’s Scarlet Spark, and Skully’s Golden Glow. Students were also allowed to grab Chick-fil-a nugget samples alongside different dipping sauces, as well as grab and decorate their own cupcake to celebrate the occasion. Besides food, students could also grab 21st birthday wellbeing kits, a variety of Skully coloring pages, Skully pens, Skully temporary tattoos, Skully jibbitz, and more.
The three cake decorating teams went off head-to-head with their own miniature cakes to decorate. They all held colorful cakes, but in the end the Decorating Divas team won first place. Their cake was then placed in front of the clock tower for Skully and his mascot friends to join together and sing happy birthday.
Be on the lookout for Skully’s 22nd birthday bash, as it may be hosted on another day due to Sept. 19, 2026 being on a Saturday.
