“A moment that without a doubt always inspires this feeling is a crowd singing along. I cannot overstate how wonderful it feels as an artist.”
Jac Conner is a Millersville student studying music industry with a focus in music production. Conner chose Millersville due to its proximity to Rock Lititz, a creative hub for live performances that provides rehearsal spaces and education services for performers.
Conner grew up listening to a variety of music, which led to his love of the art, and showed him how it can be an outlet for self expression.
“I grew up listening to all sorts of music, ranging from classic rock to modern pop, to hip-hop, to folk and beyond,” Conner said., “Artists’ ability to convey their true selves through their music inspired me, as I had always struggled to really feel seen. I found that in music.”
Millersville has done a lot to help Conner’s music career. He met his entire band at the university, along with his time at the school inspiring many of his songs. Several professors have also helped Conner in developing his career.
“Professor Martinez, Dr. Estes, and Dr. Jester have all in particular championed my artistry, and pushed me to get better in my songwriting and performance,” he said.
It has not always been easy for Conner as an artist though, he shared that he can often be quite harsh on himself or on his work. He has had some standouts, including his song “Stardust” featuring another Millersville student, Jillian Dolan, from his album “Frostbyt3.”
Conner can be found on all platforms under his name, Jac Conner. His new song, “Ember” with artist Lu will be released on Nov. 28, along with performing a show that same day with Zoey Noble and the Iconic at Zoetropolis. Conner also said he has more than just that coming as well.
“I’m in and out of the studio relatively consistently at the moment and I’m really loving the new songs. Be on the lookout for some new stuff near the end of January,” said Conner. “After that, I hope to buckle down and make a proper album.”
