Ever since the release of “Marvel’s Spider-Man” back in 2018, Insomniac has made a name for itself across superhero and video game media. Becoming a titan in the niche, the company followed up its success with sequels such as “Spider-Man: Miles Morales” in 2020 and “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2,” released in 2023. Defining themselves as the main major studio for triple-A Marvel games.
Insomniac is now continuing its run with the highly anticipated “Marvel’s Wolverine” game, set to release in fall 2026. Despite being teased back in September 2021, the game remained in early-stage production, facing constant delays. Most of which can be attributed to the leaks Insomniac suffered during its four years of development.
The first official trailer was finally released on Sept. 24. It debuted during Sony’s “State of Play” livestream, depicting a much more violent experience compared to its predecessor games.
While still retaining the grounded and gritty, yet true to source material style, Insomniac is known for, along with it being a game based on the X-Man character Wolverine, the violent nature of the game has many fans believing it makes the experience more true to his character. Along with celebrating this, the fans are also just happy the game is coming out.
Because of the leaks, some questioned if the game would even be released due to the compromised situation the developers faced. One X user, @dartharkam, wrote, “THE WOLVERINE GAME IS REAL AND HE’S VIOLENTLY PORTRAYED AS HE SHOULD BE, WE WON”.
The hype built around the development of this game, along with the symbolic status of such an iconic character headlining it, Insomniac is once again setting itself up for success.
Even in the face of leaks, delayed production, and social media flak, they keep production releases on schedule-hoping to deliver another strong Marvel experience.
