While 2026 is just getting started, there have already been several album announcements, teasers, tours, and much more in the music world. Out of the upcoming releases I have heard about, these are the ones I am most excited for, set to come out relatively soon, between the months of February and April.

  • Wuthering Heights by Charli xcx

Release date: Feb.13, 2026

While we have been getting a lot of Charli xcx content, especially the internet-famous “Brat” and its remixes, there is still much more music to come! In this case, Charli is releasing a soundtrack album for the upcoming film adaptation of Emily Brontë’s classic novel, “Wuthering Heights”. Both the movie and the album are set for release on Feb. 13.

Charli has released three singles so far: “House”, “Chains of Love”, and “Wall of Sound”. Each song is distinctly different from the energy and party-centric attitude of “Brat”. I’m looking forward to seeing Charli’s music in a cinematic space. She is definitely an artist who has a different sound and vibe for each album, and so far, this one seems to be no exception.

  • Nothing’s About to Happen to Me by Mitski

Release date: Feb. 27, 2026

Mitski has always remained relatively far away from the public eye. It has been three years since the release of her last album, “The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We”. However, on Jan. 15, Mitski announced her eighth album and released the debut single “Where’s My Phone?” the day after, with a slightly unsettling music video to match. Fans have already been sharing their interpretations of the music video, the album cover, and much more. Apart from sharing the tracklist, the album is available for pre-order, and new merchandise has been added to her online store. The deluxe vinyl includes purple vinyl, a sticker sheet, stationery, and a furniture diorama. The visuals for “Nothing’s About to Happen to Me” look interesting so far. We can definitely expect an album that is very unique and very true to Mitski.

  • This Music May Contain Hope. by Raye

Release date: March 27, 2026

After the release and promotion of her latest single, “Where is My Husband!” Raye announced her second studio album, titled “This Music May Contain Hope”. It has been three years since her debut album “My 21st Century Blues”. Alongside the album announcement, she is also going on a tour titled “This Tour May Contain New Music”, playing 51 shows throughout Europe and North America.

Raye first performed “Where is My Husband!” over the summer at England’s Glastonbury Festival, and the song officially came out in September. It has since reached a wide variety of audiences and taken top spots on various charts. Further leaning into her jazzier, more upbeat sound, it set the stage for some of the music to come. In interviews, Raye has emphasized that “This Music May Contain Hope” is meant to carry themes of healing, confidence, and faith.

  • Ricochet by Snail Mail

Release date: March 27, 2026

It has been five years since musician Lindsey Jordan, better known as Snail Mail, released an album, but that changes this year. Along with a list of tour dates for the spring and summer, the debut single “Dead End” was officially released on Jan. 20. While carrying the same introspective lyrics as her previous albums “Lush” and “Valentine”, the song has an upbeat sound reminiscent of indie music of the 90s. The track list, containing 11 songs, has been released to fans alongside the “Dead End” music video. After this amount of time, it’s exciting to see how Snail Mail has developed as an artist and songwriter in “Ricochet”

  • Ambiguous Desire by Arlo Parks

Release date: April 3, 2026

Musician and writer Arlo Parks released her last studio album, “My Soft Machine,” in 2023, and is now back with a new single and album announcement. The first single, “2Sided”, came out on Jan. 13. Slightly departing from the lighter melodies of her previous music, “2Sided” is very electronic-driven and energetic. Fans can also view the single’s music video, which was released on the same day as the song itself.

Despite not releasing new music, Parks was still very artistically active in the past few years. Apart from the release of her album, she also published her first poetry collection in 2023. In 2024, she received writing credits for the Beyoncé song “Ya Ya” off of the Grammy-winning album “Cowboy Carter”. Known for her lyrical talent along with interesting and fresh melodies, listeners can expect “Ambiguous Desire” to have the same components with interesting new sounds.
