Dan Snyder, owner of the Washington Commanders, is finally starting to consider selling the team after ongoing pressure from the other league owners. There has been mounting pressure from the other owners for Snyder to sell the team, as the Commanders have been under investigation for numerous league problems. Bouncing checks and the email scandal last year are two big examples. There are several buyers potentially interested, including Jeff Bezos.

Fans and owners alike have been waiting for Snyder to sell the team, as the time since he began owning the Commanders has been very interesting. Of course, the scandal of the team’s former name, the Washington Redskins, caused a lot of negative press to surround the team, which got even worse when Snyder said that the name wouldn’t be changed. However, after pressure from sponsors, the name was changed to the Commanders.

A check given to a fan after winning a raffle bounced, which would then lead to an investigation in the team’s financial situation, causing more controversy. However, the biggest problem surrounding Dan Snyder and the team was the email situation involving John Gruden. Emails were exchanged between Gruden and members of the Washington Commanders office that contained derogatory statements, which would result in Gruden getting fired. An investigation was then opened into the team’s office, and the results were disturbing. The NFL found evidence of sexist behavior inside the organization, and that would lead to more mounting pressure from the other owners for Snyder to sell the team.

Now that Snyder is deciding to sell the team, Jeff Bezos is reported to be interested in buying the team. Jay-Z is interested as well. If Jeff Bezos were to buy the team, the status quo would continue. However, if Jay-Z were to buy the team, he would become the first black majority team owner in NFL history. However, no matter who buys the team, Commander fans and the rest of the NFL owners can rejoice now that Dan Snyder is out of the league.
