After their outstanding season in 2009, hopes were high for the first game of 17th-ranked Millersville soccer, and they did not disappoint. The season opener, held on Sunday, September 5 at Chryst Field, resulted in a 4-0 shutout against Shepherd.
The two teams battled it out in the first half, until the 23rd minute when junior Aaron Roland scored with a header. Justin Keefer assisted Roland in the first goal of the game and season, ending the first half with Millersville leading 1-0.
The Marauders went into last weekend looking to overcome their recent struggles, and came out with three key conference wins over Bloomsburg. Going into the match up against Bloomsburg, the Marauders only had two wins in their last 12 games. The wins over the weekend also helped push the Marauders above Bloomsburg in the PSAC East division standings.
The Millersville women’s basketball team defeated rival Cheyney University at home in Pucillo gymnasium last Wednesday. The 75-64 win was a meaningful victory for the team. Earlier in the season, Cheyney handed the Lady Marauders their only loss in what would otherwise have been a 12-game winning streak.
Over the past week, the Millersville women’s basketball team has played two games. On Feb. 3, the team entered Pucillo gymnasium to face off against the East Stroudsburg University Warriors.
The 2009 Marauders field hockey team are back for another season and ready to attack all who comes their way on the field.
It is a new season, the perfect time for a fresh start and Millersville is going to make sure that they give it their all, as always.
