College extracurricular activities can be one of two things: A great release from classes or a bloody soap opera. Of course, we as students do not have the greatest luxury of time to venture into every club and organization Millersville has to offer.

But realize this, extracurriculars can help make-or-break whether you just attend college or whether you experience college.

Here at The Snapper we have experienced both the highs and lows of working with each other. At times things can get a little hairy but most of the time fun and learning is what we are about. We may not always get along, but we work through our disagreements. Throughout the clubs and organizations on campus, these same traits exist. Which is why students need to learn more about what the university has to offer and get out to “Seize the Opportunity.”

Extracurriculars are not just a great way to experience college, but build your insight as a human being. Learn what others think, say, do, and in some cases smell like, to get an idea of what this world has to offer.

The activities you immerse yourself in today can help funnel your interests for tomorrow and that is what it is all about. Extracurriculars offer us the chance to develop people skills, so in the future we can get along with a variety of people.

College exists to expound on the theatre of life. Students need to test the difference in personalities that Millersville has to offer even though we are stuck in Lancaster County. The community of Millersville University is unique, which affords us the opportunity to be unique as well. The catch is as long as we are willing to do so.

Ask your advisor, “What is one of the most important things I should do during my time at Millersville?” We can guarantee you the answer will be to get involved, or to think about graduate school.

This will be the answer because of the great things you will experience now and be given the opportunity to experience in the future. Individuals looking to attend graduate school need to be seen as a whole student, not just one with a good G.P.A.

To be this whole student, the environment at Millersville wields us toward the opportunity of being unique. Students must understand that there are tons of opportunities to get involved here. Willingness must exist for that to happen.

But for commuters, the schedules for club meetings are inconvenient, often requiring commuters to have no life and appear at their beck and call or magically appear on campus.

Think about your future next time you visit an organizational outbreak or walk around the galley at lunch.

The faces you will see represent the clubs and opportunities available on campus. Take a chance. Experience college.
