Only two days after a victory over PSAC rival Kutztown University, the Millersville women’s basketball faced off against Shippensburg Monday night in Pucillo gymnasium.
The Lady Marauders took possession of the game from the beginning. Raquel Green got things started by quickly putting up four points within the game’s opening three minutes. A foul by Isabel Scott of the Shippensburg Raiders on Ashley Moyer only added to the Marauder’s score. Moyer’s two points were a warning to the Raider defense. She went on to score 13 points in the first half alone.

On January 31 the Pro Bowl kicked off in Miami. I am not going to beat around the bush; it is time that the NFL scraps this feeble attempt at entertainment. Anybody who watched even a few plays of the alleged all-star game can agree that any player who was giving a 40 percent effort was working twice as hard as their opponent.

The Millersville women’s swim team had an excellent performance at the East Stroudsburg Invitational on Feb 7.
“I think the team did very well and we stuck together. We knew that not all of us were swimming our best events,” senior swimmer Bre Martinez said. Despite this, the team placed in the top five in 19 events at the meet.

On Saturday the baseball community celebrated the birthday of the game’s greatest player, Babe Ruth. Ruth would have been 115 years old. He was born in 1895 in Baltimore and spent most of his youth in St. Mary’s Industrial School for Boys.
It was at St. Mary’s where Ruth learned the game of baseball. He eventually caught the eye of pro scouts, and landed a contract with the minor league Baltimore Orioles. Ruth was then traded to the Boston Red Sox where he was a starting pitcher from 1914 to 1919.

The 2010 Winter Olympic Games began with tragedy. Nodar Kumaritashvili, a luger from Georgia, died in an accident while practicing.
The track Kumaritashvili was practicing on has the longest drop of all luge courses at 152 meters. He was going 90 mph when he lost control of his sled, flew over a wall, and was thrown into a metal support beam. He was knocked unconscious immediately, given CPR and was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
