What is religion? By definition, it is a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe. The legitimacy of organized religion is revealed in that simple definition: Belief. A belief is not the same as fact: it is simply an individual opinion or conviction.

It has truly earned the nicknames of Faux News and GOP-TV. The biased news network, which styles its self as “Fair and Balanced,” has always been accused of putting a conservative spin on the issues.

introduced legislation for it at the start of every session of Congress. Ted Kennedy called it “the cause of my life.” The current session of Congress has been debating it for a year. Earlier this week, the 111th session of the House of Representatives voted to pass the Affordable Health Care for America Act, finally making the dream of health care reform a reality.
Sweep away our two party system
Republican or Democrat? How about neither? As a campaign veteran, former president of my high school’s Young Democrats Club, and a Government and Political Studies Major, I know a little bit about American politics. Enough, at least, to know that after only one year of being a registered voter that I would like to relinquish my party affiliation. It is of my opinion that political parties, while useful in some ways, do more to hurt our democracy then help it.
