The Ganser Library is latest construction project
With the start of a new school year here at Millersville, there are a lot of changes taking place. The main change giving everyone something to talk about is the upcoming closing of Ganser Library.
If the Student Memorial Center (SMC) is the heart of the University, Ganser Library is, without a doubt, the brain of the ‘Ville. It is where students go to do research, complete assignments, commune with friends and study partners, and even escape from hectic college life.
Allies hosts Day of Silence: The end to a week of silencing hate
The Day of Silence is a day to recognize the LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgendered) community and their efforts to prevent harassment towards individuals around the country. Millersville took part in the event this year, with an outpour of support from many students on campus. This effort taken by young people from all over the nation has helped many young Americans understand how it feels to be shunned or discriminated against because of their sexual orientation or lifestyle.
Student Senate Safety Day held in the Quad
April 8th called for beautiful weather and there was not any better day to hold Safety Day here at the Ville. Safety Day, was sponsored by the Student Senate Safety Committee, and was an initiative to get students informed and involved in issues that are vital to having a healthy and safe campus life.
Forensic Dentistry at Duffy’s Cut: Biology Colloquium Series
A gorgeous spring day and there were about 100 students filed into Caputo 210 to attend the weekly biology colloquial. Students came to the presentation for extra credit. A bearded man walked in and pulled snacks out a paper bag.
The afternoon’s colloquium was based on forensic dentistry and the afternoon’s guest speaker was Matthew Patterson, D.M.D. He is a forensic dentist and has worked on many cases, including the topic of the colloquium, Duffy’s Cut.
Edwidge Danticat presents a narrative look at Haiti
With the tragedy in Haiti fresh in everyone’s minds, Edwidge Danticat spoke of hope and the story-telling traditions of her native country. Danticat’s lecture was sponsored by the Hazel I. Jackson lecture series and took place March 24.
Many students came out to take part in the event, which was in Lehr Hall in the Gordinier building. Hazel I. Jackson was the first African-American professor at Millersville University and the first African-African female teacher in the Lancaster school district.
