Football triumphs over Lock Haven: Win comes after upsetting home-opening loss
The Marauder football team came back from their season opening loss in a spectacular way on Saturday, September 11.
Senior quarterback Bill Shirk completed 20 of 30 passes with just one interception. Shirk also threw four touchdown passes in the game against Lock Haven.
Cross country team hosts Alumni Open
The cross-country team immediately got back to work as the Fall 2010 semester began. The team spent the first Saturday of the semester in Millersville Borough Freedom Memorial Park where the Alumni Open was held.
The Alumni and Friends team competed against current Marauder cross-country runners in the event.
Adam Mallory, class of 2009, finished ahead of all other alumni, edging out graduating class member Chris Ecker by just seven seconds.
Softball splits big doubleheader against Shippensburg Raiders
Last weekend the Millersville’s softball team was hard at work, playing consecutive double-headers against Shippensburg and West Chester University.
When they last played Shippensburg March 27, the Marauders swept the Raiders in a 6-5, 8-6 win.
Game one on Friday against the Raiders began with one run and three hits for Shippensburg in the first inning. Despite hard work and four hits, Millersville could not cross home plate until the top of the fourth inning. Allison Chew started off with a single, and advanced to second on Jill Golomboski’s bunt. Ally Homa also bunted, allowing Chew to make the turn to third. Lindsay Hosier hit a homerun to send both herself and Chew home, scoring two points for MU.
