Feed on Fastnachts
It was recently brought to my attention that not everyone knows what Fastnacht Day, or Fat Tuesday, is. Well let me enlighten you.
A fastnacht is like a donut without a hole in the middle or any filling but that does not mean that it is a bland tasting donut. Fastnachts are made differently than donuts, the fastnacht dough has to rise twice before you can fry it, and there are some key ingredients that the Wickenheisers use to make fastnachts, and are kept secret even within our own family. After the fastnachts cool you coat them in confectioner’s sugar, and enjoy a treat that only gets made once a year.
