The Millersville University lacrosse team suffered their fourth consecutive loss on Friday 20-12 at Slippery Rock University. Several Marauders had multiple goals in the contest, including Brooke Fisher who scored twice and reached the fifty goal mark for the season. Hannah Vogel tallied four times, while Becky Donkin scored three goals. Slippery Rock’s Morgan Pettit tallied eight times, as she recorded her 51st goal of the season. Lacey Allis opened the scoring for SRU when she blew one by Millersville goalie Kaitlin Crouthamel. The Marauders responded less than a minute later when Vogel tallied to tie the game at one. Slippery Rock exploded to score six straight unanswered goals, with Millersville finally responding with 12:26 remaining in the half. The Marauders broke the streak when Donkin converted on a free position shot to make the score 7-2. Then down 8-2, the Marauders managed to cut the deficit to two, with a pair of goals from Hannah Vogel and one from Fisher. SRU responded with time winding down in the half, when Pettit’s shot from the circle ended up in the net. Slippery Rock held the slight edge in shots over Millersville 16-15 during the first half. In the second half, the two teams traded goals throughout with SRU maintaining a five goal lead. Slippery Rock pulled away in the later stages of the game, with Pettit scoring three times and Kristen McGrath scoring in the final minute of play. Donkin scored twice for the Marauders during the half, while Fisher and Vogel each tallied once. The Marauders recorded 12 shots in the second, compared to 16 for SRU. Millersville registered 14 shots on net during the first and eight in the second half of the game. Crouthamel made only five saves, on 25 shots as she was tagged with the loss. Slippery Rock converted on seven of 15 free position shots, while the Marauders scored on six out of 12 opportunities.
