This past weekend went well for the Millersville wrestling team as they earned a win versus Lycoming College.
Coming into the match, Millersville had been struggling a little bit and had been trying to get their footing in the standings board as their record had shown at 2-9. This win definitely helped Millersville out and hopefully will give the team some further confidence moving forward.
It was a successful start to the day in that in the first six matches wrestled, Millersville won five of them. At the 125-pound mark, Sam Oberlander got the decision over Cody Barbiche with a score of 6-3. Kyle Loeb, wrestling at 133 pounds, confidently got his shutout win with the decision over Zachary Finn at 4-0.
Moving further up the ladder, 149-pound Brock Thompson got a decision to go his way as well as he won against Matthew Neff with a score of 4-2. 157-pound Zac Wawrzyniak-Bush secured yet another decision for Millersville with his score of 9-4 over Brian Watkins as his score of 9 was the largest number put up on the day.
Zach Pincus wrestling in the 165-pound slot received his win in dramatic fashion, going into one tiebreaker where he secured the winning point by getting an escape credited to his efforts.
Lastly, Brad Ladd wrestled in the 285-pound slot, and he secured a win over Maxwell Lamport with his score of 3-1.
All of the efforts put forth by Millersville led to successful decisions, and it is these decisions that prevailed MU to victory. The win came in the right time for the team because now Millersville looks to continue this success and move forward with it.
Millersville’s next match is on home territory against Franklin & Marshall on February 15th which will put an end to the regular season fight for the Rupp Cup. The match starts at 7 p.m., so come out to support our Marauders in this local rivalry.
