The loss going into their extended break will surely inspire the team.

The Millersville women’s swim team traveled to Lock Haven University on Friday for their last meet in 2012. The girls entered the day hoping to finish the year on a winning note, but were unable to do so as they were beaten by Lock Haven 106-98. The team managed just three first place finishes out of the 11 races that took place, with Grace Magerr winning two and Arielle Walbert one. Magerr competed in the 200 yard freestyle, finishing in a time of 2:01 and in the 500 yard freestyle where she finished with a time of 5:23. Walbert blew her competition out of the water in the 1,000 yard freestyle, with her time of 11:22 and just missed beating her personal best record for the season. Other notable finishers for the Marauders include Janelle Laudermilch, who placed second in the 100 yard breaststroke. Laudermilch finished the race with a PSAC qualifying time of 1:10. Also in the 200 yard freestyle relay the Millersville team of Amanda Thomas, Jade Wise, Jessica Del Monaco and Laudermilch finished second. The race was extremely close with Lock Haven edging out the girls by a mere .8 seconds. It is definitely frustrating having been so close to winning but the Marauders were unable to hold off the Bald Eagles. The second Millersville team of Adriana Rodriguez, Megan Oxley, Jaime Cessna and Walbert finished in third place. The second and third place finishes were not enough to help the girls catch Lock Haven, who is ranked 21st in the nation. The loss puts the Lady Marauders at 2-3 on the season and they have almost a month and a half off before their next meet. The girls resume their 2012-2013 campaign on January 19th at home against Franklin & Marshall with an expected start time of 1 p.m.
