In some towns and cities, typically wealthy areas, young kids can get a rhinoplasty for their birthday or a breast enhancement as a graduation present. This kind of living has not always been socially acceptable, however. Recently, there is a growing trend of mothers and daughters getting plastic surgery together, which is even harder to accept. Maybe it is because a recent U.S. study featured on Zimbio.com explains that mothers and daughters actually age the same way. Daughters wrinkle similarly to the way their mothers wrinkled at the same age. One reason why mothers and their daughters have recently decided to go through with their plastic surgery together is to take care of each other during the operation.
This explanation was featured in an article titled “Pairing Up for Plastic Surgery” on the website for The New York Center for Facial Plastic and Laser Surgery. Another reason is if a couple went through a recent divorce, then the mother and daughter can grow closer and decide to go through it together. This helps them feel better mentally and physically.
Still, everyone has a reason to go through surgery. Some want to shave a few years off, lose a few pounds, but they have no time to do it. Others want to look perfect. “My mother has always wanted to look younger. She tried to lose weight and has lost 40 lbs. It’s not about being vain or conceited, she just wants to lose what she can’t,” an International Studies major said about her mother who has decided to go through with plastic surgery in the future, “I don’t necessarily think it’s wrong, just whatever makes her happy because the way you feel about yourself influences other aspects of your life.” Her mother decided to get liposuction, a tummy tuck, a breast lift, and get rid of the bags under her eyes.
According to eHow.com, the most common types of plastic surgery procedures include breast augmentation, facelifts, liposuctions, rhinoplasties, and tummy tucks. “On average, a rhinoplasty would cost around $6000 including a surgical fee, hospital and anesthesia fees and follow-ups,” Dr. Scott A. Brenman of the Pennsylvania Centre for Plastic Surgery said. Plastic surgery is not for everyone. Some people think it is superficial and do not like the risks involved. “Every surgery has a risk, and risking your health to look better seems superficial to me,” an English major said, “The only reason I would get plastic surgery is because of a deforming accident.”
When it comes to plastic surgery, there are many risks involved and potential patients must be aware of them if they decide to go through with surgery. However, plastic surgery risks are very small when you go through a Board Certified surgeon. A patient’s current health has a lot to do with their risk of something going wrong while under the knife. In addition, the patient’s emotional state, prescriptions and supplements taken, and also past medical history have a lot to do with past surgeries gone wrong. Consideration of all these factors before deciding to go through with plastic surgery will lower risks.
