Unfortunately Osama is not specialized in urban education so he would be void from participating in the Anna Funk Lockey Lecture. But it would be interesting to listen to what he has to say – this does not mean I support him in any way – but he would provide an interesting experience for us.

I tried to read this entire article, but it was so poorly written, I couldn’t bare it. You may have benefitted from actually attending Ayers speech, if only to improve your verbal skills by hearing someone speak coherently. I support Bill Ayers and the direct action he took to stop a racist genocide in Vietnam via the Weather Underground. When there are millions of lives at stake, and the political system and media are completely dominated by pro-death sentiment, the people need to rise up to intervene. Ayers never hurt anyone. He attempted to disarm the death machine.

His talk had nothing to do with the Weather Underground. I don’t understand why everyone was so angry. He’s an urban educator, that’s what he was speaking about. He isn’t a terrorist, the people in the racist war and prison system he was attacking were the terrorists, as they continue to be.

In the 1960s Bill Ayers and others like him were willing to risk their own lives and their own freedom to end American aggression in the affairs of countries in southeast Asia. Instead of protesting him speaking at Millersville, you should be thanking him for the contribution he made toward ending the war and bringing your parents’ generation home.

But regardless of what Mr. Ayers did 40 years ago, if he is today recognized as an expert in urban education, why should he not speak at an institution that is educating teachers for the 21st century?
