`I’ll get right to the point. I, like many other students here, have a major problem with the way registration is run.
It makes sense of course that seniors get to pick classes first, being that they have the highest priority to finish up the classes they still need.
Then freshmen, because they have certain mandatory classes they need to take in their first year, I guess. Then juniors, probably because they have seniority over the sophomores and get to go before them.
Sophomores are dead last.
That’s it in a nutshell; how I understand it. I’ve had to make my own guesses because no one explained it to me like so many aspects of registration.
Not to be overly confrontational, but some advisors are seriously uninformed, or outrageously busy, or just not there during office hours; not only is that detrimental on a lack of information basis but presents certain prohibitory problems concerning the TAP number.
A friend of mine underwent that particular crisis recently and got royally screwed.
He e-mailed his advisor, went to his empty office, and was met with silence.
There is nothing he can do to get his TAP number, and no clue how to fill in his schedule according to the legalese DARS.
I’m sure this isn’t the only time this has happened, and it will keep happening until something is done to improve the process.
These complications are the result of an overly complicated registration process, unequipped staff, and a deficit of user-friendly and easily available information.
It doesn’t have to be that hard.
